Methodology

Three steps to fathom your numbers.

Get the data in, get to the bottom of it, turn what surfaces into a story that wins the room. The order matters: storytelling without the analytics falls apart under one question, analytics without the story is a spreadsheet nobody opens.

01

Start with what's true.

Every engagement starts the same way: pull together everything that's already there, then find out what it's actually saying, not the story everyone's been assuming.

02

Find your growth story.

It's buried in the data: the real driver of growth, the cost that's quietly adding up, and the thing the market's been saying that hasn't been heard yet. This is the part that gets skipped when there's no time for it, and it's the part that matters most.

03

Make the case.

A deck, a diagnostic, a live tracker, a recommendation. Built around the specific thing you need to prove, not a generic template.

The why

We believe every founder-led brand deserves to fathom its own numbers, and turn what surfaces into a story that wins the room.

Fathom CPG exists to do that work: real analytics, real storytelling, built for brands ready to grow.

Why fractional

A $3M brand doesn't need a $100K analytics hire.

It needs the ten hours a week that hire would actually spend on the numbers that matter, not the other thirty. A full-time CPG analyst runs $75K to $100K before benefits, and that's before they've learned the industry, let alone your brand. I already know CPG, so you're only bringing me up to speed on you.

Fractional means experienced judgment on a monthly basis, applied to your data, in your meetings.

How We Work Questions

The details on how an engagement actually runs.

What do you need from me to get started?+
Depends on the engagement. Things like retailer decks, product listing and information, or retailer data, whatever's relevant. I'll tell you exactly what's needed once we've scoped the specific engagement.
Is my data kept confidential?+
Yes. I have an NDA ready to sign before we start, so you can feel confident that your data is confidential.
How do we stay in touch during an engagement?+
You'll have my direct number and email for the whole engagement, plus a standing check-in, weekly, biweekly, or monthly, whatever fits the pace of the work.
What do I actually walk away with?+
Depends on the engagement. Usually a live dashboard you can check yourself, a deck built for a specific meeting, or both. Whatever it is, it's built in tools you already have access to, not something locked behind me.
What if my data is a mess right now?+
That's normal, not a dealbreaker. Cleaning it up is part of the first month. If it's too early to be worth the cost, I'll tell you that instead of taking the project.
How long does a typical engagement run?+
Projects run two to six weeks. Retainers vary, some brands need a few months around a launch or reset, others keep it running for a year or more.
